Hate Crime Policy and Partnership Manager, London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Menara Ahmed is the Hate Crime Policy and Partnership Manager responsible for delivering the Tower Hamlets Hate Crime Strategy.

Menara has been tirelessly working with local communities for ten years driving projects, such as the Champions Project. This engages with local people who are recruited as champions, receiving accredited training enabling them to engage with hard to reach communities, such as Disabled and Deaf communities. This project was so innovative that Menara was invited to meet Gordon Brown at Downing Street.

Menara also led on developing the No Place for Hate Campaign and Pledge to encourage and support everyone to be proactive in challenging discrimination; hundreds of people have signed including Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren. She has trained and engaged with thousands, spoken at national conferences to share best practice and placed Tower Hamlets on the national map as a centre of good practice in tackling hate.
