Keith Miller
Senior Project Manager, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council
Keith Miller has used his past experience in the field of technology in the chemical and nuclear industries to develop a trial around mobile working adapted to the needs of staff working in an area where, due to the coastal location and remote areas, access to conventional broadband and mobile technology is difficult. Through this trial, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has become the first authority in Europe to utilise new technologies to provide social workers in remote locations with access to secure files - this means they no longer have to spend time travelling to and from the office or to areas where conventional broadband can be accessed. The first trial period has just ended and it has identified a 35% increase in efficiency in working time allowing more client referrals and visits to be made by social workers who are making a difference right at the heart of the community. Keith is dedicated to the project and has worked tirelessly with colleagues within ICT to make things happen smoothly for all. He has invested a significant amount of his own time to ensure that guides to using the new technology have been produced in simple user-friendly formats as well as attending weekly problem-solving drop-in sessions so staff can get the most out of there ground-breaking technology.
