Jayne Seaman and Nick Hayes
On-site Caretaking Supervisors, London Borough of Camden
Jayne and Nick each supervise a team of caretakers in the Somers Town and St Pancras wards, both of which experience high levels of anti social behaviour. Although they each have a team, they decided that by working together they have more flexibility with resources. They make suggestions for improved security, covert camera operations and re-assure residents as well as working successfully with the safer neighbourhood officers locally. They provide a lifeline to people, often the most vulnerable. On one occasion, Jayne found a tenant wandering the estate semi clothed. She encouraged them back to their flat and stayed with them whilst coordinating support services. Every weekend, in his own time, Nick visits an elderly tenant who is nearly 96 and has Alzheimer's. Jayne and Nick have led on introducing recycling points on their patches which has resulted in over £20,000 savings on the annual refuse charges.
