ESOL - More Than a Language Class

'English for speakers of Other Languages' (ESOL) aims to provide an opportunity for learners to develop language skills vital for citizenship, employment, further study, accessing services and interaction with the local community. In Cardiff PolicESOL integrates the police into the process. This means common fears immigrants and asylum seekers harbour towards the police can be dispelled and new arrivals can be certain of their rights. This report finds out more and also looks at the 14-19 ESOL project in Cardiff which focuses on young asylum seekers and immigrants, many of whom arrived in the UK alone.
