Birmingham City Council

Birmingham is bidding to become the UK City of Culture 2013. The city's major arts organisations generate over a million attendances every year, 60% of which are from local Birmingham residents. However, the Birmingham City area is vast and many residents live more than half an hour's drive time from the city centre which is a significant barrier to engagement. A priority for Birmingham is to increase participation in culture by the city's residents by bringing culture to their doorstep.
