Local government's key role in helping communities and businesses

As the recession bites, councils across the UK are reporting a rise in demand for services and are playing an ever increasing role in helping communities and local businesses. Local Government Channel reporter Sam Hughes reports from the Local Government Association's Strategy and Finance meeting held to discuss the importance of local authorities in helping people and businesses weather the impacts of the downturn.
