About Us
We are the leading broadcast media channel dedicated to local government. We engage this community through a mixture of news and views broadcast on Sky, on-line and at major conferences. The Local Government Channel caters to anyone with an interest in local government including chief executives, councillors, senior managers and the members of the community they serve.
Our ongoing relationship with the LGA group means we have constant access to those at the forefront of local government. Our weekly discussions and interviews with key figures such as Hazel Blears, Margaret Eaton and John Ransford amongst others, ensures the Local Government Channel provides up to date content and comment from those at the heart of the stories.
Awards
Our annual Council Worker of the Year Awards have become a key event in the local government calendar, marking the end of the LGA annual conference with a prestigious awards dinner and ceremony.
These awards aim to recognise the heroes of local government and acknowledge those frontline workers who strive to deliver excellent public services each and every day. Winners are decided by public vote, offering councils a unique opportunity to connect with their communities.
"There are hundreds of thousands of Council employees across this country, who work to improve their local areas every single day. Each council can give their own examples of staff members who routinely go above and beyond the call of duty in their service to the community. The Council Worker of the Year Awards provide a much needed opportunity to recognise some of the outstanding contributions made by local authority staff."
Capturing Issues and Audiences
Partners
With our extensive experience in the public sector we produce the highest quality media and online television, enabling organisations to communicate their key messages on a platform that is accessible by all.
The Local Government Channel is fully endorsed by the Local Government Association and we also work closely alongside the LGA's associated partners, (LGE, IDeA, LGIU, 4ps & LACORS) and providing conference tv for other local government bodies such as SOLACE and SOCITM.
Conference TV
The Local Government Channel and Local Government Today are produced by WebsEdge whose other flagship channels include Global Health TV,Education Now! and ICMA TV.
WebsEdge produces television programmes for many leading international conferences and exhibitions.
Capturing news, interviews and speech highlights from the event and
then broadcasting these bespoke branded films on plasma screens around
the venue, and even in delegate's hotel bedrooms! If you've attended
any local government conferences recently then chances are you've
already come across us. We may have approached you with a camera and
asked you to give us your thoughts on conference themes or keynote
speeches, which we would have put into the next day's conference TV
programme.
As well as producing conference tv for the majority of events in the LGA calendar, WebsEdge also produces films for many other key UK and international conferences, such as TUC conferences, the international Global Health Conference, and AoC events throughout the year. Our expertise in global online broadcasting means we can also create a bespoke online resource to broadcast your films, which means they are not just limited to the conference, but can be communicated to a worldwide audience.
"We found the team really professional and we had some brilliant feedback to the video. It was well worth doing."
Emma Rodgers Corporate Communications Manager
Staffordshire County Council
"I wanted to say how pleased we are with the two films produced by the
Local Government Channel. We believe they reflect the authority's
personality well and will be useful to us in a number of different
ways. Our experience dealing with the Local Government Channel has
been exemplary. It met with all our communications needs and exceeded
all our expectations"
David Cooke, Chief Executive
Kettering Borough Counci
