Susan Humphreys
Neighbourhood Manager, Kettering Borough Council
As a Neighbourhood Manager, Susan's responsibilities are varied. Just before Christmas last year Susan was attending an eviction of a council tenant for rent arrears. While there Susan gained the tenant's trust and found out she was suffering from ill health both physically and in her state of mind. Susan worked very closely with the tenant and managed to prevent the eviction removing the risk of homelessness for the tenant and her children. Susan, with the tenant's agreement contacted the tenants' relatives who were totally unaware of the situation. Susan did not stop there; she went the extra mile by working with the tenant to clean and tidy her home, and helped the tenant to seek financial help and get medical support to sustain her tenancy. With Christmas just around the corner Susan contacted various charities to ensure the tenant's children had presents for Christmas and decent food on the table for Christmas day.
